While weather forecasts called for a chance of overnight rain showers, turning to snow as the precipitation tapered off, nature delivered something different. Heavy, steady snow fell, blown by a chilly breeze, as temperatures hovered right around freezing through the morning.
The National Weather Service issued a hurried Winter Weather Advisory at 7:48 a.m. on Thursday to a region already settling under several inches of snow. The advisory is in effect until noon, and reads, "Wet snow. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph... Numerous slide-offs and accidents have been reported in areas where snow has started sticking to roads."
