Sandra Jean West, 89, of Lake Ozark, MO passed away surrounded by her family at Miller County Care Center in Tuscumbia, MO on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Sandra was born on October 14, 1936 in Ft Madison, IA the daughter of Elvin and Flossie (Peabody) Dance who preceded her in death. She was a 1955 graduate of Ft Madison, IA High School. After high school, she married her best friend, Walter Lane West in Ft Madison, IA on October 15, 1955, he preceded her in death in 2012.

In 1976, she and her husband, Walter, moved from Aledo, IL to the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks, beginning a new chapter of their lives filled with hard work, adventure, and countless memories.

Not long after arriving at the lake, she and Walter purchased the Ozark Village Resort, which they owned and operated together for two years before selling it and purchasing the Golden Rule Resort. They continued to make their mark on the Lake of the Ozarks community as owners and operators of the Golden Rule Resort for several years.

Her entrepreneurial spirit continued throughout her life. She later owned and operated Preferred Auto Rental for 15 years, building a business through dedication, determination, and a genuine commitment to the people she served. She also enjoyed a successful career in real estate, working as a Realtor with Century 21 for approximately 10 years and helping families find homes and properties around the Lake of the Ozarks area.

While she accomplished much professionally, her greatest joy was found in her family. She treasured spending time with her loved ones and especially enjoyed being a grandmother. She was always ready to take part in whatever her grandchildren were doing or interested in. Whether it meant attending their activities, cheering them on, or simply spending time together, she wanted to be a part of their lives and make memories with them.

She had a special love for the simple pleasures in life. She loved ice cream, shopping, collecting owls, and, most of all, being surrounded by her family. Holidays were especially meaningful to her. She loved planning family meals, bringing everyone together, and creating the traditions and memories that would be treasured for years to come.

Survivors include: two sons, Greg West (Sandra) and Jeff West; one daughter, Lori Montoya; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Krystal, Matt, Whitney and Jordan; 9 great grandchildren, Colin, Chase, Lucas, Liam, Chris, Aiden, Teegan, Addie and Leo and one great-great grandson, Ayven. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Dance.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026 from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm at Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Home in Osage Beach, MO. Memorial service will follow at 5:30 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Alan West officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lake Ozark Christian Church, 1560 Bagnell Dam Blvd, Lake Ozark, MO 65049.
