LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — It was a sweltering Memorial Day weekend at the Lake, with temperatures reaching near 90, high humidity and almost no breeze to bring relief. A good reason to hop in the water and cool off, since the Lake’s surface water temperature is only around 70 degrees!
This week may cool off just a bit, but the Lake area will likely still see higher-than-normal temperatures, according to the National Weather Service. NWS records show the normal high temperature for this time of year is around 79 or 80 degrees, with a normal overnight low in the upper 50s. But this week, temperatures are expected to reach the mid- to upper-80s during the day, with overnight lows dropping only into the upper-60s. There’s a chance of some thunderstorms mid-week, but Missourians know the heat and humidity can often generate pop-up late-afternoon storms without much warning.
Here’s the NWS forecast for this week:
Tuesday - A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming east 5 to 8 mph in the morning.
