LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — With the morning sun glimmering off the lake, Austin Harrell dropped in for his first wakeboard set of the summer. The sun warm on his face, he waited in the calm, cool water as the boat trolled ahead ready to pull him. Sitting in the water, Austin reflected on the fact that this would be his first attempt to work on his jumps since a bad fall the following summer. The boat accelerated and Austin arose from the water.
The theme of the 2015 Eternal Rider’s Wakeboard Camp was “Overcoming Fear”. Hosted by Kirby’s School of Wake, camp proved to be another unforgettable three days. Camp was held June 8–10 at Camp Windermere, Lake of the Ozarks with a record 53 students in attendance. Young and old, beginner or experienced, students came from all over to attend.
Eternal Riders and Kirby’s School of Wake have managed to create a unique atmosphere catered to give students the opportunity to experience God in the midst of having fun wakeboarding and wakesurfing with their friends. Professional wakeboarders Kirby Liesmann, Daniel Dyck, Timmy Burnier, Gabe Fowler, Kyle Waller, and Nick Cankar were in attendance, coaching the campers. Powerful guest speaker, Derek Dickerson from South Dakota, delivered the message reminding campers how important they are to God, and shared his testimony while Paul Lee and his worship band filled the air with praise and worship. That evening, the camp says, nearly half of the campers decided to follow Christ.
