KAISER, Mo. — Insane Clown Posse, a hip-hop duo with a “Deadhead”-like fan base of thousands, is coming to the Lake of the Ozarks in August, and tickets go on sale tonight.
Fans, called “Juggalos,” will assemble at Crybaby Campground—a farm on the Osage River, on Highway D in Kaiser—from Aug. 6–9. Tickets go on sale at 8 p.m. Central Time.
The annual concert known as the Gathering Of The Juggalos has garnered plenty of negative attention over the years, with reports of unruly behavior, drug use, and even deaths. A report at the Chicagoist claims vendors from last year’s festival, which occurred at Hog Rock Campground, say event organizers issued checks that bounced and still owe more than $300,000. The FBI has even designated the group a “loosely organized hybrid gang” — a label the band is fighting alongside the American Civil Liberties Union, who joined with band members Joseph Bruce (“Violent J”) and Joseph Ulster (“Shaggy 2 Dope”) in filing a lawsuit against the FBI last month.
But Insane Clown Posse’s label, Psychopathic Records, declined to give LakeExpo.com any comment about concerns from past events only referring to the statement the group gave the Associated Press, and adding, “We have no comment.”
Spokesman Jason Webber told the AP: “Kaiser is perfect” for the gathering, adding “Juggalos can expect something very special for our 15th annual family reunion.”
The owner of Crybaby Campgrounds, 70-year-old Bee Enowski, is prohibited from speaking to the press in her contract with Psychopathic Records.
