Evan George Vourazeris (say Vour-A-Zeris) is a bit of a live wire.
He's also not one to steer away from a challenge.Â
So when the call came from producers of the Netflix series Ozark, he kicked into gear—literally running around the house screaming for joy—only 8 weeks out from a horrific car wreck in April 2016.
He knew he had to deliver. And boy, oh boy, did he!
Handpicked by Jason Bateman, Evan played a small, but important, role in the acclaimed Netflix series. Evan took on the character 'Tuck,' a Lake local and seasonal employee of the Blue Cat Resort. A busboy and newly minted hip hop aficionado, Tuck becomes acquainted with the Byrde children, with Ruth Langmore and within a few episodes, chaos ensues.
"Jason Bateman was looking for some in particular with a disability. I don't know what they were looking for but I fit the part," Vourazeris reflects.
And although the franchise is coming to an end, Evan is keeping things moving professionally with an entry into the 2020 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge: Home Edition short film WeSEEabilities. Produced completely while observing social distancing, Evan has a goal of "raising awareness for disabled actors and other artists."
When not acting, Evan can be found on the motivational speaker circuit or at home in Katy, Texas. A movie, puppetry and Pac Man fan, Vourazeris began acting in 2012 after being influenced by a friend, filmmaker Anna Brodl, who studied at Houstons' Art Institute. His friend had a role in a project for school and that small part went on to spark a bit of a fire.
Turns out, that simple act of a friend helping a friend paid off. Now, Vourazeris' IMDB account reflects multiple film projects and there are many more opportunities in Hollywood on the horizon. But one of the projects he cherishes and takes most to heart is his work for "I'm Bully Free," an NPO that is "dedicated to reducing bullying" and Houston Buddy Walk with the Down Syndrome Association of Houston.
As he shared on Great Day Houston, "there's always hopes; there's always dreams… we support one another and by the grace of God, things happen."
