MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. — A Morgan County bridge will close for more than two months beginning next week while crews replace its deteriorating driving surface.
The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to close Route W at the Indian Creek bridge, southwest of Barnett, beginning the morning of Sept. 21. The bridge will remain closed to all traffic through early December.
During the closure, motorists will be directed around the bridge using a signed detour along Route AA, Missouri Route 52, and Route Y.
The bridge was built in 1965. According to MoDOT, its supporting structures remain in good condition, but the bridge deck has deteriorated and is now in poor condition.
Crews will replace the driving surface with a new deck the same width as the existing structure. The project also includes new concrete barriers and guardrails at the ends of the bridge.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $1.24 million contract to Gene Haile Excavating, Inc. for the Route W project and work on the Moniteau County Route CC bridge over South Moreau Creek, which was completed earlier this year.
Work is weather permitting, and the schedule is subject to change. More information and project updates are available at MoDOT.org.
