Don't Wait For Spring: Let The Pros Handle Trees Around Your Home During The Off Season!

  • 5 min to read

Lake of the Ozarks boasts beautiful landscapes, but the lush trees can also pose problems — especially now that winter is here. Ice, snow, and harsher conditions can turn procrastination to remove a tree into a much more expensive and potentially dangerous issue.

Oasis Tree Service has the team, the equipment, and experience to get the job done right. They've been doing it for nearly 20 years, and no job is too big for the Oasis crew.

Oasis Tree Service owner Israel Blosser loves his job. Interested in trees since he was a teen, Blosser started his career in lawn care but worked toward his certification as an Arborist in 2011. He moved from Kansas because of the opportunities at the Lake, and now his small team stays busy, trimming and removing trees around the ever-growing Lake of the Ozarks region.

“It’s the challenge,” said Blosser about his favorite aspect of work. “We do whatever it takes. No job is the same. It’s the challenge of making difficult work efficient.”

The Oasis Tree Service team is set apart by their customer care and having the right equipment for the job. Blosser said customers should consider insurance differences, and whether a lower price is worth the headache to fix what another contractor didn't do carefully.

"Competition can give a cheaper price, but then the cleanup isn't what the customer is hoping for — like broken landscape lights, tracks in the yard, or not raking rocks back smooth on a rock yard," Blosser said, emphasizing his team's "attention to detail with the cleanup, and the safety factor."

Blosser says it's important to verify proof of insurance and work comp: if the tree service owner is not covered and gets hurt on the job, the hospital could sue the homeowner for damages. Oasis Tree Service sends proof of insurance with every quote.

Their customer reviews attest to Oasis' attention to detail...

I want to thank you for the great job of removing the large pin oak from my property. I was impressed by the work ethic and professionalism of your crew. We were very satisfied with the care they took with the adjacent trees and the condition the yard was left in. I would not hesitate to call you again if I need tree service. —Bruce P.

Highly recommend their work. Cut our tree down safely & quickly. And they did a great job cleaning up the mess! We will use Oasis Tree Service again. — Beth R.

We recently purchased a home on Sunrise Beach. Oasis Tree Service did an outstanding job cutting down a couple big trees that were dead in our yard. They also trimmed all the bushes and cleaned up the landscaping! I highly recommend their services! I now have an amazing view of this beautiful lake! — Joel H.

Best tree/shrub/bush care professionals in Lake area. Israel is an arborist with a keen insight, he is much more than just a chainsaw. Years ago, he counseled me to keep a sycamore that I thought should come down. Today, it is a stunning tree that adds immense beauty to the Lake home. — Craig B.

Communication, safety, and tree management are top priorities at Oasis Tree Service. A full-time secretary is available for calls and to take detailed work orders. Blosser said they sometimes surprise customers with their efficiency.  “A lot of times the job takes less time than what people are planning on,” Blosser said. “Of course it depends on the job size, but most removals or trimming jobs are completed in less than a day.”

Oasis Tree Service consults with clients on trees that are a concern to them, and has a certification in Tree Risk Assessments. They've also worked with condo associations at the Lake creating a managed plan to eliminate safety hazards, address building clearance, and tree/view conflicts.

"I go out and do consultations to help our clients understand their trees,” Blosser said. "We want to help manage the landscape our customers have, because it takes a lifetime to grow a tree."

To do this kind of work, you have to have the right equipment and the experience to know how to use it safely — tricky situations are just part of the landscape. A couple years ago, Oasis had to remove a big oak tree lakeside that had fallen between two docks. They made cuts in the water then used a crane to take the tree out, piece by piece.

Other jobs may also require them to lift trees over the tops of houses or condos, or up through decks that have been built around them.

Blosser said they have tailored their equipment to the Lake, and that improves efficiency and safety.

"We have a self-propelled turf-friendly manlift that we trailer to the job so we can access trees lakeside, and navigate steep lots," Blosser said. "Things that we do every day is work that a lot of people don't see on a regular basis."

Oasis also has a small crane on their fleet too. This gives them access to dangerous trees that can't be reached any other way; they can take the crane to the tree.

As an Arborist, Blosser isn't just interested in tree removal: Oasis Tree Service is also careful about root rot and tree diseases. For example, the Oasis team knows if they were to use spurs to climb a tree that had Dutch Elm disease, and then they went to the next job without sterilizing tools, the next tree would contract the disease and die.

That level of care and caution is uncommon, but Blosser says hiring someone with this knowledge — like Oasis Tree Service — helps stop highly contagious problems like Dutch Elm Disease and Oak Wilt from spreading. Some trees can also be made much safer by installing cabling and bracing systems, instead of being removed. Oasis can advise customers if their tree is a candidate for this option.

With winter already here, Blosser suggests customers schedule work now instead of waiting till the spring rush. This season is the best time to trim trees, and they typically have more scheduling flexibility in the winter.

"We have a high standard that we hold ourselves to, and we want to make it easy to trust us with your tree project," Blosser said.
