Visitors were shown the facility’s wide range of production including contract packaging, secure document shredding, wood pallet manufacturing, a green house, a retail garden center and the most recent project: dock foam recycling. During the tour employees explained their jobs and demonstrated the many different skills they learn while working at LAI.

State Representative Diane Franklin kicked off the ribbon cutting ceremony with a presentation of a “Missouri House of Representatives Resolution” honoring Lake Area Industries for their tremendous growth over the past year and the addition of 30 new jobs.

Executive Director Tiffany Riemann announced to a large crowd that the workshop now has 70 employees with disabilities and 15 staff. “It’s not just about employment here at LAI; it’s about giving our employees a choice when they come to work each day. The job is so much more than a paycheck: it’s their family and friends!”

Riemann thanked all of the businesses and individuals that have supported the workshop through the years, including Speedline, Argosy Console, Metal Tech, Laker Fishing, Hugs Pet Products, Lake Regional Health System, First National Bank and most recently Dierbergs in Osage Beach, who has partnered with Gifted Gardens to sell mums and fall flowers.
