OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — Changes could be coming to the dock inspection requirements in the Osage Beach Fire Protection District, and the district board of directors is planning a public meeting to hear comments about the proposed alterations.

The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m., June 18, at Station 1, District Headquarters.

The current program requires all docks within the district that meet the following criteria have a permit issued and be brought to the current standard for electrical connection:

• New dock construction

• Dock relocation

• Remodel of existing dock, including electrical system upgrade

The proposed changes would add all dock transfers of ownership due to the sale of real estate to that list. Those docks would have to be inspected and brought into compliance before Ameren would transfer the dock permit into the new owner's name.

The inspection confirming the dock's compliance would be good for a period of one year. This new requirement would not be enforced on multi-well docks that are tied to an association with multiple slip owners in the same structure.

Dock safety became a hot issue last summer after multiple incidents of electrocution on the Lake of the Ozarks.
