Fire destroyed a house and damaged two others on Monday in Roach.

Firefighters were called to a residential structure fire at 1637 Piney Point Drive in Roach. The first arriving units found a small single story residence fully involved in fire, with two other residences being immediately threatened.

Crews began an attack on the fire, with the priority being to first stop the spread of the fire to the nearby homes. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes.

The house of the origin of the fire was a total loss and the two adjacent residences sustained minor exterior damage.

Units remained on scene for two hours, overhauling and extinguishing the fire. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. There were no injuries.

The MCFPD was assisted at the scene by the Southwest Camden County Fire Protection District. The Osage Beach Fire Protection District moved a truck to MCFPD Station 1 for coverage. The SBFPD provided mutual aid by covering the north end of the district.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Meanwhile, other crews were responding to a residential structure fire in the 3000 block of Twin Rivers Point Road in Greenview.

The first arriving units there found an electric wire on the ground arcing that had set the exterior corner of the house on fire. Neighbors controlled the fire with a fire extinguisher and the power company responded and disconnected the power to the arcing wire. The house sustained only minor exterior damage.

A cleaning crew working in the house at the time of the fire was able to get out safely. There were no injuries.

According to Chief Frandsen, the last few days have been very busy for the MCFPD. The district responded to 31 incidents since Friday, Feb. 3 including five brush fires, six motor vehicle accidents, four mutual aid assists, 14 EMS calls and two structure fires.
