LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Three waterfront homes were destroyed in a massive fire, Friday afternoon at Lake of the Ozarks.

The neighboring homes are located on Scenic Dr., on the Lake of the Ozarks' north shore in Jackson Branch Cove, around the 4 Mile Marker. All three homes were destroyed.

Firefighters worked to control the three-house blaze while also seeking to keep it from spreading, by shooting water onto nearby trees, which were blackened by the flames. One firefighter on the scene told LakeExpo the heat had grown so intense and the flames were so large that one of the flotation blocks at a nearby dock melted, and sank.

A fire chief LakeExpo spoke with on-scene said no cause had yet been determined.

More information is anticipated from local fire districts; LakeExpo will update this story as it becomes available.
