A woman was seriously injured early Sunday morning when her car crashed on Highway 42.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 22-year-old Morgan McGuire, of Iberia, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Corsica eastbound on Highway 42 at 2:40 a.m., when the vehicle ran off the right edge of the road.

The Highway Patrol says McGuire overcorrected, and the vehicle ran off the left side of the road, hit a ditch, and overturned, striking several trees.

McGuire was not wearing a seat belt, the Highway Patrol reported, and she sustained serious injuries. She was taken by EMS to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.
