LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – A total of $60,000 will be on the finish line as Lake Race 2013 attracts new sponsors from across the boating and restaurant industries to pony up the loot for winners.
Mountain Dew and Formula Boats embraced the opportunity early as core event sponsors.
As race day approaches, only weeks away on June 8-9, more supporters are coming aboard. Lake Race organizers Thursday night announced new race sponsors at a reception held at the Country Club Hotel.
Play Craft Pontoons will sponsor the first-ever, sanctioned Pontoon Race.
Performance Boat Center is donating the $5,000 prize to the winner of The Super V-Lite Race.
Shady Gators and Backwater Jacks has committed to the Pro/Am Race with $15,000 going to the winners of the five contests.
A total of $40,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top four finishers in the Performance Extreme Unlimited Race -- $18,000 going to the first-place finisher.
Fox TV affiliate KRBK and radio station KRMS will air six hours of live racing coverage for race lovers watching from home and listening from their boats along the racecourse as the legends of offshore racing show the world, “How We Dew the Lake!”
