LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — July 4th falls on Thursday this year, which means one of the biggest weekends at Lake of the Ozarks gets a one-day head start.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says they'll have extra presence in the Lake area to keep drunk drivers off the road.

MSHP Troop F will be conducting DWI Saturation operations on Saturday, July 6 in Camden and Miller counties. Captain Jason Crites said it is an effort to save lives and promote highway safety on July 6.

Make sure to keep your independence and don't ride under the influence! MSHP reminds drivers that a sober ride home is just a phone call away.
