The Daughters of the American Revolution are celebrating a major milestone: the 250th anniversary of the United States. Their garden project, AMERICA 250, will bloom in Lake Ozark as the Wazhazhe Chapter prepares for its planting phase.
NSDAR Regent Lilli Heinrich announced that the planning phase has concluded and fundraising is in full swing. To kick off this endeavor, the chapter will hold a ground-breaking ceremony, officially marking the beginning of the planting process.
After the ceremony, the Bagnell Dam Strip Association will contribute a $500 donation to the DAR’s efforts, bringing the total raised toward the project’s $5,000 budget. This funding will support the planting of Flanders Field Poppies and Rose of Sharon bushes, which will enhance a commemorative marker dedicated to the nation’s upcoming anniversary.
The ceremony is open to the public, taking place on Friday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at the roadside park across from Lake Ozark City Hall.
