OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — The largest attraction at Oasis Lake of the Ozarks is taking shape: the ferris wheel.

Standing at 175 feet tall, the big spinning wheel is set to be nearly 400 feet above the Lake's surface and provide beautiful views of the landscape.

"Ferris wheels represent a celebration of America, uniquely combining nostalgia, panoramic views, and a sense of excitement," said Todd Schneider, operating managing partner for Oasis Lake of the Ozarks.

The sharable experience will feature 30 fully-enclosed, spherical-shaped glass gondolas. Visitors on the world-class ride will enjoy heat and air for year-round comfort. And because the gondolas are suspended on the outside of the ring unlike other regional ferris wheels, there will be unobstructed views.

While the Lake is a boater's paradise, the ferris wheel offers a new way to enjoy the vista. The ride also features a programmed lighting show, with dramatic colors and movement.

“The show aspect of the wheel’s lighting displays will make it more than an attraction — it will make it a gathering place for the entire Lake community,” Schneider said. “Whether families are coming off the Lake by boat or arriving by car, the wheel at Oasis will be a place to come together for a meal, some playtime, a ride, and an evening out. We want it to become a convenient destination that people return to again and again.”

Visitors can step aboard the ferris wheel during the day or at night for a 10 to 12 minute ride. Single-ride tickets and a discounted, unlimited ride package will be available at Oasis.

The amusement park, parking garage, and boat slips are scheduled to open next spring. An indoor water park and a Marriott Resort & Conference will come in later phases.

Once Oasis Lake of the Ozarks is complete, the location will be a year-round destination with multiple restaurants, on-premise hotel rooms, and a range of attractions, including two roller coasters.
