Donald Trump said he was going to win, and he did.
After an evening of electoral map twists and turns, Trump managed to clinch the necessary 270 electoral votes on Tuesday, and Hillary Clinton conceded the race.
Predictions that Trump would hurt votes for Republican down the ballot turned out to be false. Republicans preserved their hold on the Senate, with a confirmed 51 seats as of Wednesday morning. Republicans also kept a solid majority in the House of Representatives, with at least 236 (and a few races still pending).
In Missouri, incumbent Republican Senator Roy Blunt eked out a victory against challenger Jason Kander. Blunt earned 49.342 percent of the vote (1,370,240 votes) to Kander's 46.208 percent (1,283,222 votes).
Missouri voters also elected Republicans into three major state offices that had been held by Democrats:
Eric Greitens beat current state Attorney General Chris Koster in the Governor race -- 1,424,730 to 1,261,110.
Jay Ashcroft handily defeated Robin Smith in the race for Secretary of State -- 1,581,428 to 1,046,769.
