High winds and low humidity is a recipe for fire danger on Wednesday, March 16. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning across central Missouri—including the Lake of the Ozarks area—from 1 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Westerly winds of up to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, combined with relative humidity values between 20 and 29 percent have created “critical fire weather conditions,” the NWS said. Wildland grass fires will especially have the potential to spread quickly, the weather service noted.
Burning should be avoided on Wednesday.
