MILLER COUNTY, Mo. — Two Camdenton men are facing drug charges after authorities say a traffic stop in Lake Ozark resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
According to Miller County Prosecutor Ben Winfrey, when a Lake Ozark police officer made a routine traffic stop, 48-year-old James Wallis was asked to produce his driver’s license, to which Wallis replied he did not have a valid one.
When the vehicle was searched, authorities say both James and his brother Andy Wallis produced several items, including methamphetamine, pipes, straws, knives and a hatchet.
Both men were taken into custody, but police say James Wallis assaulted the officer while he was being arrested, by kicking and kneeing him.
James Wallis is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia, and Assault on a Law Enforcement Agent.
Andy Wallis is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia. Andy Wallis is also on probation for Second Degree Assault and was wanted by authorities.
Both men are in custody at the Miller County Jail.
Winfrey expressed his thanks to the Lake Ozark police for their work on this arrest.
