For kids in the community who need their feet warm in the winter, Barefoot Floors is stepping in to help.
Joni Walden, owner of Barefoot Floors and Blinds ’N More in Osage Beach, is collecting socks during December, to give to kids who will need an extra pair or two for the cold months ahead.
“We just started it last year,” Walden said, adding, “It goes with our name ‘Barefoot.’”
The final day for donations is Friday, Dec. 16 (though Walden says donations on Monday the 19th would be accepted too). Then the socks are passed on to Share the Harvest, which distributes them to 500 local kids. In 2015, Barefoot collected 1,020 pairs of socks, so each kid got two pairs.
All colors and kids’ sizes are accepted, and donations can be brought to Barefoot Floors, which is located next to the Osage Beach Post Office. Walden also said individuals can simply donate money with which socks will be purchased.
