CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — An attorney for a Camdenton man charged with one of the most heinous crimes Camden County has seen in years missed a court appearance on Tuesday. The attorney, William O. Green, is representing Steven Endsley in the case involving a prior weapon possession charge in connection with the two women he is accused of killing.

Endsley faces two counts of Murder in the 1st Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, 2nd Degree Arson and a 1st Degree Burglary charge in the deaths of two women who lived near Endsley’s home. However, Endsley also separately faces a charge of Unlawful Possession of an Illegal Weapon.

The weapon charge arose out of an earlier disturbance at the home of the two women, Danielle Smith and Theresa Jackson. At that time, when deputies arrived at the mobile home of Smith and Jackson, they encountered Endsley, who authorities say was involved in an ongoing personal dispute over the sexual orientation of the younger woman. Deputies, based upon their conversation with Endsley, believed he was in possession of a pair of metal knuckles at the time.

On Nov. 1, 2016, Endsley was scheduled to appear on the weapon charge in the Camden Circuit Court of Judge Koeppen. Endlsey’s attorney, William O. Green, did not appear for the scheduled Case Review. Consequently, Endsley was not brought up from the jail.

Judge Koeppen passed the matter on to Nov. 8, 2016, for Case Review and noted for the record if neither Endsley nor his attorney are present at that time the court will issue a show cause order -- which would require the attorney to explain the absences.

Endsley’s next court appearance on the homicide charges will be a Motion Hearing on November 14, 2016. A Pre-trial Conference is scheduled on April 4, 2017. The jury trial is scheduled for May 1 thru May 5, 2017.
