Gabe Harris

A man wanted on domestic assault charges was pulled out of a hay barn on Tuesday, Sept. 18 after a manhunt brought in the Missouri State Highway Patrol's aerial search team.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Miller County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Patrol in apprehending 37-year-old Gabe Emmanuel Harris, who fled on foot from a domestic disturbance in rural Miller County. Troopers from the Lake of the Ozarks area responded to the scene. The Patrol’s helicopter 93MP was also requested and responded.

Upon arrival, the officers began searching an area on Adams Road. The initial search was unsuccessful, and the Patrol’s pilot and the tactical flight officer began directing officers to outbuildings obscured by trees. At approximately 6 p.m., the Patrol says a trooper and Miller County deputy located the subject laying down inside a hay barn. When spotted, Harris reportedly went further into the barn and hid between some round hay bales.

So local farmers fired up a tractor. They removed about half of the bales from the barn, according to the Miller County Sheriff's Office, and at 11:29 p.m., Harris was located and taken into custody without incident.
