Kevin R. Kayden

LACLEDE COUNTY, Mo. — Kevin R. Kayden, of Lebanon, Mo. is facing felony charges for the murder of 27-year-old Laquita Williams in December. Kayden, 25, was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 6 and charged with felony Murder First Degree and felony Armed Criminal Action with a cash or surety bond of $500,000.

Williams was found at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, when the Lebanon Police Department responded to the 300 block of North Street in Lebanon for an unresponsive person inside a residence.

Once officers arrived on scene, the victim was immediately identified as Laquita Williams. Williams arms had been bound behind her back, with a cord around her neck, and her throat had been cut. A later autopsy of Williams’ body confirmed that her cause of death was likely due to the left carotid artery being severed and the esophagus lacerated.

Further investigative leads over the course of the investigation, including crime laboratory testing, led to the charges against Kayden for the murder of Williams.

This case is still actively being investigated by the Lebanon Police Department and the Lake Area Major Case Squad.
