MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. — Six people from Versailles were hospitalized after a horse and buggy was struck on Route C Wednesday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 28-year-old man was driving the buggy around 5:35 p.m., May 13, when a Silver Chevrolet Trax, driven by a 22-year-old Versailles woman, crested the hill and collided with the buggy near Gracey Creek Road.

Everyone in the buggy sustained serious injuries, including the driver; a 29-year-old female passenger; two girls, ages 6 and under 1; and two boys, ages 5 and 3. It is unknown whether any safety devices were in use, according to the report.

Mid-Mo Ambulance transported the family to University Hospital in Columbia.

The driver of the Chevy suffered minor injuries and was taken to urgent care by private vehicle.

Both the buggy and SUV were totaled. The patrol report did not include the condition of the horse, though the buggy was removed from the scene by a private party.
