LAKE OZARK, Mo. — Local veterans will once again honor those who served ahead of Memorial Day through the annual VFW Day of Service.

Members of Al Whitaker VFW Post 6514 will place grave flags on veterans’ graves and line the roadsides with flags at Tol Wood and Riley Lamb cemeteries on Wednesday, May 20, beginning at 10 a.m. The flags will remain in place through Memorial Day on May 26.

The effort is part of the fifth annual VFW Day of Service, a nationwide initiative launched by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in 2022 that encourages veterans and community members to continue serving through volunteer projects and community outreach.

The project is intended to honor fallen veterans while also recognizing the continued role veterans play in supporting their communities long after military service.

The cemeteries are located in the Lake Ozark and Eldon areas.
