Little rubber duckies helped local kids in a big way, with a donation to Lake Area Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The group recently announced they have received a donation of $3,522 from the Ozark Coast Kiwanis. The donation comes from the proceeds from the annual Duck Drop event. “This donation will go a long way to matching the children still waiting with a list with a positive, consistent, caring adults,” said Alison Martin Program Coordinator of Lake Area Big Brothers Big Sisters. All money donated stays here at the lake supporting local children.

This year, Lake BBBS has made several new matches. But there is still a need for men and women to volunteer one hour of their time, per week, at School of the Osage. If you are interested in more information about becoming a mentor or know a child between the ages of 6-14 that is in need of a positive influence in their life, visit lakebbbs.org or call Alison at 573-348-5507 or email her.

"We cannot thank organizations like Kiwanis enough that make Big Brother Big Sisters possible at the Lake," Alison said.
