LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — The Community Foundation of the Lake has received a $1,000 grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation.

Store manager David Blankenship recently presented the Community Foundation of the Lake with the check for $1,000.

“We are so excited! This will help out the community tremendously,” stated Carolyn Davinroy, the president of The Community Foundation of the Lake.

The Community Foundation of the Lake was established by community leaders to help in building the educational, cultural, health and economic development of the Lake area.

The Foundation is a growing resource to receive, and grant local community funds donated by families, individuals and corporations. Donations can be in any amount, unrestricted to benefit any community need or restricted by donor designation and used for a specific program or purpose as the donor identifies.  All funds stay in the lake area where they benefit many organizations meeting a broad range of local community needs.

The Walmart grant will go into the Community Foundation of the Lake’s Capacity Fund. The Community Foundation awards grants to local non-profit charities and the contributions stay in our community.  In the past the Community Foundation of the Lake has awarded grants to; Share the Harvest Food Pantry, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Medical Missions for Christ, and other local nonprofit organizations.

Applicants can submit a grant to the Community Foundation of the Lake, available online. The completed forms are reviewed by a Community Foundation grant committee. Grants and amounts awarded to local organizations and nonprofit charities will be announced to the public. The Community Foundation awarded 17 grants this year totaling more than $26,000.  In the last 8 years the CFL has funded more than $150,000 in grants to local non-profits.  Applications are available at the Community Foundation of the Lake’s website www.communityfoundationofthelake.com.
