LAKE OZARK, Mo. — After the Ozark Halfwit statue recently suffered damage from vandalism, Lake of the Ozarks businesses have banded together to fix the iconic statue that stands on the Bagnell Dam Strip.
On May 11, someone hurled a 20lb rock at the antique statue. The impact left a giant hole in the statue's foot, only days after it had returned from a complete restoration.
The fiberglass statue needed repair, and Lake area business Big Boys Fiberglass offered to fix the Ozark Halfwit's foot for free. Owner Joe Page will simply foot the bill for the materials cost.
After a few hours of work on Tuesday, May 21, the foot was looking good as new.
Garrett Jackson at SixOne Arts will finish the job with some fresh paint. Jackson is known for his artwork around the community: he painted the mural on the fence that also stands along the Strip, and has painted unique murals on the walls of many local businesses.
