The Westlake Aquatic Center pool is once again offering Red Cross swimming lessons — beginner through advanced — for kids who want to learn to swim or just become better swimmers.
Students will be taught by Certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructors Tina Lewis and Jessica Matusik.
Swim lesson sign-up day is May 7, between 9 and 11 a.m. at Westlake’s indoor pool in Laurie Fairgrounds Park, 134 Fairgrounds Rd. just off Hwy. 5 in Laurie.
Thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of the Lake, the first 50 students signed up will be able to receive the lessons at a greatly reduced price of $25 for six group lessons. At the completion of the six lessons, the students will receive a free 1-month membership to the pool.
If you miss the sign-up day, contact the pool at 374-7370 but be aware that these lessons are very popular; the special $25 price may no longer be available. After the first 50 students have signed up, the cost will be $48 for the same six lessons.
Session 1 begins June 6; a second session of lessons will begin June 20.
The pool also offers private lessons all year long. For Children under 18, the cost for six 30-minute private lessons is $100, or $20 for a single lesson.
Private lessons for adults are six 45-minute lessons for $150 or a single lesson for $30.
