Have you ever just felt condemned about what you have done in the past? I know there are times that our minds go back to what is referred to as “the good ole days.” You remember, those days when you could do just about anything and get away with it. Or at least you thought you were getting away with it.

Actually, those days were pretty awful when you look at them closely. They were filled with things that for the most part we would never want our children or grandchildren to do. With that, comes a little condemnation for us even getting involved in them.

There are a couple of scriptures that have helped me to overcome condemnation. The first one is found in John 3:17; For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but so that the world through him might be saved. This verse is after the famous one about God loving the world so much he sent His Son for us. Notice, Jesus speaking here, doesn’t put condemnation on anyone because of what they are doing, or even what they have done. He only talks about the fact that God doesn’t condemn.

If God doesn’t condemn, who does? I have found that most people are condemned by their thoughts, their past, or by others who think they are doing the right thing. Most of the time, we condemn ourselves more than anything else. We know we should do things right but…

B. R. Jensen said this, “Sometimes in the smallest details of the day God reveals the greatest depths of His love.”

Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

This tells me that the way to be out of condemnation is to be IN Christ. When condemnation comes in any way, know that it is not of God and the best way to overcome it, is to be “IN Christ.”
