CAMDENTON, Mo. — Country music singer-songwriter Dwight Yoakam is bringing the old-yet-new sounds of his newest album to Lake of the Ozarks on May 28, when he performs at Ozarks Amphitheater.
Tickets for the performance are available in a special presale event now for fanclub members and subscribers to Ozarks Amphitheater’s email list. Tickets go on sale for the general public on March 11.
Yoakam’s latest album, “Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars…”, came out in 2016, with bluegrassy renditions of a dozen songs from his 30-year recording history. But the album’s final song is a surprising take on Prince’s “Purple Rain.”
Yoakam has always blazed his own trail, and this album is no different.
Ozarks Amphitheater is the Lake’s outdoor amphitheater, hosting big acts like Ted Nugent and the Eli Young Band, as well as crowd-pleasing themed events, such as “Get The Led Out,” a Led Zeppelin tribute band, scheduled for Aug. 26, 2017. Country music artist Aaron Tippin will perform at Ozarks Amphitheater on Sept. 23, 2017.
The venue was recently named #5 of “The 10 Best Live Music Venues in Missouri” by BestThingsMo.com and is located just off Missouri Route 5 at the Pier 31 Rd/Bridal Cave exit.
“We are excited to bring these internationally-known headline acts to Ozarks Amphitheater and to showcase this magnificent venue,” said Bill Carle, amphitheater owner. “We have a somewhat hidden gem here in the rolling hills of the Ozarks. It is a great venue to visit as part of a long weekend at the lake. Our goal is to become the premier summer music venue in Central Missouri.”
The rest of the venue’s summer season schedule has not yet been released.
