A 45-foot cruiser sank Friday on the main channel near the Lake of the Ozarks Community Toll Bridge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 32-year-old Joseph Krieger, of Muscatine, Iowa, was driving the 45 Silverton cruiser around the 17.5 Mile Marker when a "mechanical failure" caused it to sink.

The two boaters aboard got off the boat safely.

Lake Tow has towed the swamped vessel to an area near the shore, on the main channel, where the boat will later be floated and pulled from the Lake. The boat is marked with four buoys and is sitting near the shore, east of the bridge, on the Sunrise Beach side of the main channel around the 16 Mile Marker.

Boaters are urged to use caution in that area and avoid the sunken cruiser.
