Summer Boating Fun At Lake Of The Ozarks

Boating offers an exhilarating escape: a worry-free day away from life's many cares, surrounded by family or friends...

...until it doesn't.

The best thing about boating — being on a boat, in the middle of Lake of the Ozarks — can quickly become the worst thing. If the boat breaks down, now you're stuck on a boat, in the middle of Lake of the Ozarks.

Then when the towboat arrives? You're stuck with a tow that could be $1,000 or more. The average tow, according to Lake area boat towing companies, is about $700, with some tows costing up to $2,000!

That's why we started XTow. And it's on sale for the boat show this weekend: just $99 for a one-year Captain's Club membership (that's $60 off!)

Click here to join the XTow Captain's Club. Use promo code BOATSHOW for the $99 deal at checkout.

An exclusive service for Lake of the Ozarks boaters, offered by the team at LakeExpo.com, XTow is what we call the "Worry-Free Boating Club." With more than 600 members at Lake of the Ozarks, XTow is helping those boaters live according to our motto: "Don't Worry, Boat Happy!"

Why XTow?

XTow Captain's Club members get free towing if they break down anywhere on Lake of the Ozarks.

They also receive 10¢/gallon fuel discounts at XTow Partner Marinas across the Lake. (View the list of Partner Marinas.)

Why Do Boats Break Down?

The reasons are legion, but some of the most common reasons boats get towed include:

• Overheating — usually an impeller that just quit. Bad!

• Dead battery — old batteries die fast, but so do new batteries when you cove-out too hard.

• Out of fuel — blame the boat fuel gauge!

• Other mechanical problems

These are often avoidable!

So our XTow team has created a No-Tow Checklist, free for boaters. It's a quick checklist to use before you launch the boat (with a more extensive checklist for the first launch of the season), based on the most common reasons for a tow.
