Let’s face it. There are some jobs that no one wants to do. Clearing old junk out of a garage or removing dump piles from a wooded property rarely makes it very high on the priority list. But for Not Your Mother’s Moving Company, these dirty or time-consuming tasks are exactly what they do best.
Specializing in junk removal and property cleanup, Rocky and Rylee McCormack have a mission to clean up the Lake in the most eco-friendly way possible. Through proper dumping practices, such as disposing of harmful chemicals correctly, Not Your Mother’s Moving Company wants to help Lake residents clean up their properties while protecting the environment.

“We strive to make the Lake cleaner and healthier, and we also want to leave a legacy for our son and daughter,” Rylee McCormack said. Both growing up at the Lake, the McCormacks are excited to give back to the Lake community. “We are as local as it gets,” Rocky chuckled.
When it comes to junk removal, the McCormacks are serious about doing it the right way. “We are big on dumping properly. We aim to keep as much out of the landfills as possible. We recycle, resell, or compost what we can,” Rocky explained.
With so many wooded properties at the Lake, the couple often responds to calls about dump site clean-ups. “A few winters ago, we got a call about a pile of shingles that someone had illegally dumped. The property owner was about to be fined by the city. It took two full truckloads to remove all of the shingles,” he recalled.
Another memorable call came from a woman concerned about her brother’s living conditions, which were terribly infested with spiders. “The brother had been in the hospital because of an infection, and he needed to come home to a more hygienic environment,” Rocky commented.
He went on to describe how the sister had pulled most of the spider-infested furniture from the home for Not Your Mother’s to pick up and remove. The brother was understandably upset that all of his belongings were being taken away, so he pleaded with the McCormacks to leave a small dresser.
“We hauled off a trailer and a half of couches and other furniture infested with hundreds and hundreds of brown recluse spiders. But when he asked me to leave the dresser, I went ahead and thoroughly cleaned it out of all the spiders so he could keep it,” Rocky explained.
Lake residents in need of Not Your Mother’s specialized moving services can easily schedule a free on-site estimate with a quick phone call. “When I come out to give a quote, I also come prepared to do the job at that time. For larger jobs, I may have to schedule a separate time for the job,” Rocky stated.
For last-minute move-outs, Not Your Mother’s Moving Company will remove the remaining furniture left in the home and even sweep out the space. “At every job, I take pictures before, during, and after to show the customers,” Rocky remarked.
The company has already made a name for itself around the Lake for being dependable, compassionate, and environmentally sound. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The McCormacks have big plans for their junk removal company in the future. “We will be adding roll-off dumpsters for our customers in the near future, possibly being available this coming spring,” Rocky explained.
“One of our long-term goals is to be a home base for recycling,” Rylee added, "Eventually, we want to handle everything in-house to make sure everything we do is eco-friendly.”
Feel good about who is taking away your junk, knowing it won’t just end up in the landfill.
