Virginia Louise “Ginny” Ross, age 88, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born June 16, 1929, in Versailles, the daughter of the late Julius and Sudie (Ratcliff) Cooper.
She was united in marriage to Greg Ross who preceded her in death on October 27, 1990.
Ginny loved living on the farm and working alongside her husband. She had many interests and talents. Her passion for gardening led her to grow test roses for the University of Missouri. Ginny also grew large vegetable gardens for many years and enjoyed canning and preserving for her family and friends. She was known for her lively piano playing. In her earlier years, she played in piano bars in the lake area. For many years, she was a member and the accompanist for the Glensted United Methodist Church and could always be found under the sycamore tree playing the piano at the annual song fest. Most recently, she accompanied Reverend Robert Ross at many community and church functions, and enjoyed playing the piano at the Kidwell Home while she was a resident.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Ross and wife Carin Reust of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren, Willem Ross and Jessica Ross and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Cooper and her half-brothers, Warren Cooper, Chevalier Cooper and Herbert Cooper.
Ginny requested no formal services be held, but that those wishing to honor her memory may perpetuate her legacy through memorial contributions to the Glensted United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
