MOUNTAIN GROVE, Mo. — The Lily Lake Dam is in danger of breaking, and authorities are evacuating portions of the town of Mountain Grove below the dam as a result.
The town is located southeast of Springfield.
The National Weather Service reported on Monday morning the Mountain Grove Fire Chief had informed the NWS that the Lily Lake Dam had been partly breached, as rain falls for a third straight day across Missouri. The dam is expected to fully breach today, and neighborhoods north of Lily Lake will be flooded. The Mountain Grove Fire Department was evacuating the lower area of West 1st Street and West North Briton.
In a Flash Flood Warning for the region, the NWS wrote, “Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.”
