It was a turkey-hunt of a lifetime.

Seven-year-old Kinsleigh Porter of Camden County, Mo., won first place in a local youth turkey hunting competition this spring.

Kinsleigh's turkey weighed 24 pounds and 13 ounces with a triple beard that measured a total of 27 inches! This turkey is one of the largest they've ever had in the competition.

Her bird even landed on the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) records and her score of 107.37 was in the top 500 for the whole United States.

"Kinsleigh was so determined to get this turkey. After an unsuccessful opening day, she returned the next morning and was able to get him," her mother Emily told LakeExpo.

She added, "She’s incredibly proud, and we hope her story encourages other young girls to explore outdoor activities like hunting."
