The Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club recently helped provide food for the Horizons Alternative School in Camdenton.

The school had purchased a refrigerator and freezer through a grant last year but did not receive a grant for food for this year. Linda Boeckman, a new Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club member, sent a letter to the club wondering if it would be willing to help.

Kelly Fischbach, Jesters volunteer, contacted Camdenton Schools Director of Community Relations Sherry Marose and determined most of the students attending the school qualified for help. There are approximately 120 youth who attend school there, and many were living on their own or working jobs after school just to put gas in the car, the club discovered. Through a donation from a donor at Papa Chubby's and Jesters volunteers, Lynne and Dave Holt, the monthly program got started.

Each month, Susan Southwick, Counselor at Horizons, puts a grocery list together and emails it to the Idiots Club. Lynne and Dave then go shopping. Dale Holzer, owner of SavALot, helped the group coordinate tax-free purchasing and payments.

The Idiots Club Jesters shop every 3-4 weeks and deliver the needed food items to Horizons.
