Night Boating At Lake Of The Ozarks

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — A woman was killed and four people were injured when two boats collided just after midnight on Lake of the Ozarks, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is reporting. The driver of one of the boats has been arrested on pending Boating While Intoxicated charges.

According to the Patrol, the crash took place around the 18 Mile Marker, when a 1995 Sea Ray, driven by 52-year-old John Bennett of New Haven, Mo. struck the port side of a 2005 Formula, driven by 42-year-old Scott Comia, of O’Fallon, Mo. The collision killed 42-year-old Dawn Steinkuehler, of High Ridge, Mo., who was pronounced dead at the scene, at 1:17 a.m. The following injuries were reported, all of which were aboard the Formula:

-13-year-old female, of High Ridge, Mo. — serious injuries, flown to University Hospital for treatment

-42-year-old Brad Steinkuehler, of High Ridge, Mo. — serious injuries, flown to University Hospital for treatment

-42-year-old Scott Comia, of O’Fallon, Mo. — minor injuries, taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital

-43-year-old Jason Ashby, of Eureka, Mo. — minor injuries, taken by Missouri State Highway Patrol to Lake Regional Hospital

No injuries were reported for any occupants of the Sea Ray. However, the driver of the Sea Ray, 52-year-old John Bennett, was arrested on the following pending charges, and held in Camden County Jail:

-BWI with death to another

-BWI with serious physical injury

-BWI with physical injury

-Careless & imprudent operation of a vessel
