Lake of the Ozarks vacationers love filling up their boat — or renting one — at Scooters because of the great experience, convenient location, and free soft-serve with every rental. Now in their second summer, Scooters has opened a restaurant, building on the legacy of one of the Lake’s most beloved restaurants, The Duck.
Opened in 2022 by the Randall family, Scooters is located on the 4 Mile Marker, at the site of what was long known as The Duck. They partnered with the owner of the popular (former) Horseshoe Bend restaurant The Bend to renovate and reopen the restaurant portion of the location as The Bend at the Duck. Sitting directly on the main channel with a beautiful view of the water, this location on the Lake is convenient to access by water or land, and it's the perfect spot for dinner with a view.

The Bend at the Duck is open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday. They also serve lunch Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Though the Randalls didn't expect to be in the restaurant industry, they knew there was a legacy they had to uphold.
“The legacy is something very important to us,” Beth Randall said. “You can access us by land or water, and we're excited to start this new adventure.”
A feature carried over from The Bend includes the Bourbon Bar, with a wood paneling finish and lots of options (800+ bourbons) to enjoy drinks overlooking the water. The bottom patio offers a relaxed-casual atmosphere for boaters, and the top has more of a fine-dining experience for guests.
Beth and her husband Tom were frequent visitors to the Lake until they made the move here in October 2021. The opening of Scooters has been a family effort between Tom and Beth and their two daughters, Ruby and Millie. The family knew they wanted to give the best services to the Lake community, and it’s exactly what they’re doing.
Scooters Rentals has quickly become a one-stop shop for snacks and gas on the water.
With a tritoon, 23 PWCs and other accessories for fun on the water, these rentals are the best you can get on the Lake. Each rental has bluetooth speakers and the tritoon is geared with a 250 HP engine, giving customers a plenty-powerful ride on the water.
Now in their second season, Scooters has the joy of seeing repeat customers. "It's so fun having families come back and seeing their kids grow up," Beth said.
“I think that our customers that we’ve had so far renting our equipment have just been totally satisfied,” Tom said. “We want to do something different on the Lake, there’s a lot of places where you don’t get that type of feeling.”
The experience doesn’t end on the water. Scooters offers free Dole soft serve (dairy-free and delicious) after a rental or purchasing gas, with delicious flavors like pineapple, vanilla, raspberry, strawberry and watermelon. Scooters also sells Tru Fru snacks of frozen raspberries covered in white and dark chocolate (delicious!), drinks and more.
The Randalls' 25-year-old pet red-eared slider is also a popular attraction at Scooters. Her name is Jazzy, and she has more personality than you'd think a turtle could pack into that shell. Customers love feeding her frozen banana slices: Jazzy actually lunges out of the water and snags the banana out of your hand. Trick turtle!
“We’re just kind of listening to people and what they want,” Beth said. “We believe in deep hospitality and we personally welcome everyone that comes here.”
With a gas dock, boat rental, and restaurant, for the Randalls the most important thing is to help Lake-goers create happy memories on the water.
Beth added, “We want people to have fun, we want them to be safe and we just hope that our kindness can spread a little bit.”
