An old motel with a great location at Lake of the Ozarks has been transformed. The Lake House Inn is now one of the most unique and attractive lodging options at the Lake. New and improved, the inn welcomes guests with retro-chic flair, comfort, and style. Those along with huge convenience upgrades are making every stay unforgettable.
Nestled right off Hwy 5 on five beautiful acres in Laurie, at Lake of the Ozarks, this reimagined motel has transformed into a year-round destination that puts Lake guests at the center. With Adirondack chairs around a fire pit and a unique “binzebo” on the property — extending the retro chic theme to the outside including picnic tables and strand lights to enjoy even in bad weather — The Lake House Inn offers updated amenities and thoughtful touches, designed with the guests’ perfect getaway in mind.

While guests are welcome to book their stay on other booking websites, direct booking through The Lake House Inn’s website saves at least 18% of the total cost.
“We are the only place on the west side of the Lake open all year ‘round,” owner Alex Glenn said.
As an owner of numerous other vacation properties, Glenn knows a diamond in the rough when he sees it. So he bought the property with a vision in mind. It was “out with the old and in with the new” still preserving all of the retro elements that gave the motel its charm. “I have a standard for all of my properties. My friends and family have to want to stay there,” Glenn remarked.
To clean up this old motel and make it “friends-and-family-worthy” meant ditching outdated carpet in favor of herringbone vinyl tile, swapping worn surfaces for sleek quartz countertops, and applying fresh coats of paint to every room. The remodel resulted in a stylish, comfortable, and affordable retreat that feels like a boutique hotel—but at motel prices.
But the updates didn’t stop with the aesthetics. The Lake House Inn embraced a new way of doing business to make everything from check-in to check-out more efficient for modern guests.
Major operational changes started with switching to virtual booking only—no cash accepted—and simplifying the room options, either double queen deluxe rooms or king bed suites, all of which are now non-smoking.
Guests no longer check in at the front desk. Instead, they walk right up to their room, opening the door with a code specific to their stay. “It was a lot of work,” Glenn said. But those smart business changes coupled with the overall facelift of the property directly benefit Lake guests.
By cutting out unnecessary overhead, like front desk staffing, the savings go straight back to guests in the form of competitive rates and a seamless experience. WiFi-enabled locks on each door mean check-in happens with the tap of a phone. Guests can pull in, and head straight to the room. “No more waiting in line while a clerk types and you anxiously await your information after traveling to get there,” Glenn added.
The traditional check-in counter has been replaced with a guest lobby featuring vending machines, a well-stocked coffee station, and an ice machine capable of churning out a whopping 600 pounds of ice daily. There’s even a boxwood selfie wall with the words, “Better to wake at the Lake”.
Another popular upgrade means pets are now welcome. “Yes, Fido is allowed,” Glenn chuckled. For traveling families and pet lovers, The Lake House Inn’s new pet-friendly policy is a total win.
Since purchasing the motel on March 27th of this year, The Lake House Inn’s doors never closed as the remodel took place. Now, fully revamped, the guest response has been overwhelmingly positive. “I think the word to describe how our guests react to the updates is shocking,” Glenn said. “They are all very happy with the changes.”
“The Lake House Inn has always been an awesome location, but now the place is awesome as well,” Glenn concluded.
