OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — "Unlocking Biblical Truth About Religious Liberty" is the subject of a conference scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3 at the Riverview Baptist Church in Osage Beach.
“Religious Liberty is under attack in the country that knew to protect it in the very first right listed in the Bill of Rights,” Christian Life Commission Member Bev Ehlen said, speaking of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
The Christian Life Commission of the Missouri Baptist Convention will hold conferences on the issues of the day across Missouri. This first conference is focusing on First Amendment Rights.
Dr. Clint Bass, former assistant professor of church history in the Redford College of Theology and Ministry at Southwest Baptist University, will present the role that Christians played in religious liberty in history. He will also explain the importance of defending religious liberty today.
Rep. Jered Taylor, R-Republic, MO, will present an update on the bills making their way through the Missouri General Assembly that are either protecting religious liberty or threatening religious liberty. He will speak about the threats to the religious liberty of Missourians across the state.
Finally, Don Hinkle, Editor of the Missouri Baptist Convention Pathway, and Bev Ehlen, will present the call to action.
One of the topics of discussion will include this quote by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal in 2014: “America didn't create religious liberty. Religious liberty created America.”
The Riverview Baptist Church is located at 989 Highway 42, Osage Beach, Mo. 65065.
Everyone is welcome, and the conference is free. RSVP via Eventbrite
