LAKE OZARK, Mo. — Ducks will fall from the sky on Aug. 2, benefiting local charities and leaving one happy duck-owner with $5,000.

The Kiwanis Club of Ozark Coast has announced that the Presenting Sponsor for the two-day 2014 Great Bagnell Dam Duck Drop will be Bank Star One.

“We are very excited to have Bank Star come on as our Presenting Sponsor for this year’s event!  They have a long history of stepping up and assisting in our community and it is appreciated,” said Mike Waggett, event co-chair.  “Last year we added a golf tournament on the Friday before the Duck Drop and it was a great success.  This year, we will be adding even more on-course events and prizes and Bank Star’s sponsorship will help us make the Duck Drop golf tournament bigger and better!”

Kicking off the event will be the Duck Drop Golf Tournament on Friday, Aug.1 at The Cove Golf Course, which will be followed by the awards ceremony and entertainment at Savannah Grille.

Then on Saturday, Aug. 2, the club will host a 5K Run below the Dam.  That will be followed by rides, games, and entertainment in the Family Fun Zone. The actual dropping of the rubber ducks will take place at approximately 1 p.m.

Michelle Cook is co-chair for the event with responsibility for the Family Fun Zone.  “We greatly appreciate all of the sponsors and organizations that come together to make the Family Fun Zone and the Duck Drop itself happen, as it has a lot of moving parts,” she said.  “With their help, we have been able to keep the event free to attend and raise money that helps so many kids throughout our area.  It is very rewarding to offer an event that the people benefitted by the Ozark Coast Kiwanis can actually come out enjoy with their families and have fun!”

For the golf tournament, the entire package, which includes golf, breakfast and awards party admission is $125 per player. The price also includes 10 Duck Drop tickets per player, a $50 value.  Participants who register by July 11 each receive 15 Duck Drop tickets—a $75 value.

The Annual Great Bagnell Dam Duck Drop is a fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Ozark Coast.  Tickets to “adopt” individually-numbered rubber ducks cost $5 each.

Ducks are dropped from a helicopter and from pontoon boats in the Osage River below the Dam and then they race to a finish line.  The ticket holder with the winning-numbered duck gets $5,000. Prizes are also awarded for places 2-12 and a special “Lame Duck” is awarded to the last duck in the race.

Registration forms are available at www.GreatDamDuckDrop.com, at www.ozarkcoastkiwanis.org or from any club member.  According to Waggett, there are limited slots available, so interested individuals should register early.

All proceeds from the golf tournament and the Duck Drop ticket sales go to local charities, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the YMCA, Citizens Against Domestic Violence (CADV), Hope House, Wonderland Camp, Kids Harbor, Feed the Children, Christmas for Kids and more.
