LAKE OZARK, Mo. — Daytime drivers should make plans to avoid Bagnell Dam on Friday morning, as Ameren will close the dam to traffic for part of the day.
The closure will begin at 9 a.m and will end at 2 p.m., so most commuting to work will still be able to use the dam.
Ameren says the closure will be due to the positioning of a crane to test one or more floodgates. The test is required by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), an Ameren spokesperson said, and is not due to any concerns about the floodgates.
The utilities company is required to have a FERC license to continue to operate the dam.
