OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — A local family narrowly avoided tragedy on Christmas Day.
The Osage Beach Fire Protection District says firefighters were called out to a single-family home on Sunset Dr. at around 5:30 p.m. On arrival, crews found embers coming from the chimney.
According to Chief Paul Berardi, the firefighters accessed the roof and discharged extinguishing agents, then proceeded inside to check for any areas the fire might have spread to. The fire was contained to the chimney flue.
Berardi took the opportunity to remind Osage Beach residents that flues should be inspected prior to and at the end of the fireplace season. This is to uncover any minor problems and/or creosote buildup.
