The City of Camdenton said the county's activation equipment did not function properly. By the time county dispatch requested a manual activation of the siren, and personnel arrived at the siren site, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration had cancelled the Tornado Warning, according to the city.
The city issued the following statement:
On Sunday, June 28, 2015 at approx. 6:20 PM, central Camden County was placed under a tornado warning by NOAA. The tornado warning stated it would impact the City of Camdenton.
Camden County Dispatch attempted to activate their equipment but their storm siren activation equipment failed. Camden County Dispatch informed the City of Camdenton of the failure. The City of Camdenton had personnel in route to activate the storms sirens from a backup location. When personnel arrived at the back up location, NOAA had already cancelled the tornado warning so the storm sirens were not activated at that time.
Camden County Dispatch will have a service technician on site this afternoon, Monday, June 29 to evaluate their equipment. This may also include the testing of the sirens.
