LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — One boat sank and at least two others were damaged in a fire on Saturday evening.

According to the Lake Ozark Fire Protection District, the incident was reported at around 6:20 p.m. on March 8. The fire began with one boat, which was docked at Village Marina, but it soon spread to the others, District Fire Marshal James Doyle reported. The boat that sank was a 31-foot 1995 Chaparral.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. Doyle reported there were no injuries in association with the incident.

Tim McNitt, of Atlantis Dive and Dock Salvage, assisted at the scene. McNitt says just as he was preparing to enter the water and attach chains to the boat, it began sinking. The water in that area was around 30 feet deep, according to Charlie Meyer of Lake Tow.

The boat was finally pulled out of the water on the afternoon of Sunday, March 9.
