OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — Two 18-year-olds are facing felony charges after authorities say they were allegedly selling drugs in the Lake area.

The suspects were identified as Terry Short of Eldon and Malcolm Cortes of Osage Beach; authorities say they found hundreds of pills containing meth as well as ketamine, digital scales, a firearm, and more than $2,000 in cash.

On Friday September 25, Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force and Osage Beach Police Department served a search warrant at 1045 Red Bud Rd. Upon serving the warrant which lead to the arrest of 2 inviduals and a substantial amount of drugs seized.

The investigation began after the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force received information from the Camdenton School Resource Officer and School of the Osage staff regarding suspected drug distribution occurring within the schools. Officers conducted follow-up investigative work, which led to the issuance of a search warrant for the Red Bud Road residence.

Upon serving that search warrant Officers located 2 individuals who were identified as:

-Terry M Short w/m age 18, Eldon, MO

-Malcolm J Cortes w/m age 18, Osage Beach, MO

Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Camden County Jail awaiting charges.

A subsequent search of the residence uncovered

  • A large ziplock style bags containing 18 smaller Bags with 5 and 10 Green pills labeled “BB BALENCIAGA” with a total of 175 pills and approximate weight of 148grams, that tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine with field test.
  • A large ziplock style bags containing 13 smaller Bags with 5 and 10 Red pills labeled “Pill Dept” with a total of 117 pills and approximate weight of 81grams, that tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine with a field test.
  • 2 bags of white crystal that later tested positive for the presence of Ketamine
  • Digital scales with visible white powder coating them
  • Springfield Armory Hellcat 9mm semi auto pistol
  • A bag in the center of the room containing 9 red pills, 5 grey pills, 5 green pills, and a pink pill
  • A pill bottle containing 64 grey pills with unknown markings that tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine
  • $2,460 cash

On September 29, Mid-Missouri executed a second search warrant on a package that was delivered to the same residence in that package Officers located and seized:

  • 5 Bags of orange pills, with a total weight of more than 5lbs.

Short and Cortes were later charged in Camden County.

  • Terry M. Short was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, with a $25,000.00 Surety Bond
  • Malcolm J. Cortes was charged with 2 counts of Trafficking Drugs or Attempt 1st Degree-Over Statutory Amount, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon, with a $250,000 Surety Bond.
