Not Just A Funny Name
The Idiots Club helps impoverished kids around the Lake in a wide variety of ways, and they are always looking for opportunities to help.
For example, the club recently:
• covered boater safety license fees for six Macks Creek students,
• paid a student’s Camdenton Wrestling Club participation fee,
• purchased weighted sensory items for a Camdenton Middle School student,
• and funded HiSET testing for a Horizons senior.
In another instance, volunteers with the Idiots Club (aka “Jesters of Goodwill) took 18 graduates from the Horizons Education Center shopping for professional attire. With guidance from Kohl’s associates, the group purchased 43 apparel pieces, 14 pairs of shoes, and 24 accessories.
The group’s Buddy Pack program ensures kids go home with food — many of whom would have otherwise been home alone with empty pantries.
The all-volunteer organization spent more than $300,000 helping preschool through high school students during the 2024–25 school year.
Leaders say that level of impact is only possible because of strong backing from Lake-area businesses, organizations, churches, residents, and even visitors. The Idiots Club returns 93% of all money raised directly to children and youth, with most of those dollars spent locally to benefit area stores as well.
